DIPA 09/08/13

This was my first attempt at a Russian River Pliny the Elder Clone.

What i was aiming for – OG 1.072, FG 1.011, 200+IBU’s, 15EBC, 8.2%ABV, Mashed at 66deg with a 73% efficiency, and aimed for 48L in the fermenter.

The big difference to the recipe below is the use of non-isomerised CO2 Hop Resin Extract, i managed to get some from Northern brewer and replaced the the 90 min addition with 10ml of extract (100ibu’s ish) and the 45 min addition with 5ml  (40IBU’s ish)

The wort was whirlpooled for 30 min with 140g of Simco and 60g of Centennial (the hop cone after whirlpooling is shown below), before being cooled to 17deg, oxygenated and the yeast pitched. Have to admit i used us-05 on this brew instead of the normal liquid yeast.

OG came out at about 1.070 so close enough.
